About MRSA

MRSA is a bacterial infection that may cause skin infections to look like pimples or boils and may be red, swollen, painful and have pus or other drainage. This form of staph infection is resistant to certain antibiotics.

We have not had any reports of this infection within the Wonders community.

Wonders is actively working to prevent the spread of germs through our health and safety procedures which include:

1 Hand washing with soap and water by both children and staff upon entering the center, after diapering or using the toilet, after handling bodily fluids, before food preparation and serving, prior to meals and snacks, and after handling pets.
2 Daily cleaning of counters, table tops and food preparation areas with a bleach and water solution.
3 Daily cleaning of door knobs, table tops and food preparation areas with a bleach and water solution.
4 Cleaning and sanitizing toys that go in mouths after each use.

Your family can take an active role in preventing the spread of germs by:

1 Thoroughly washing hands with soap and water or using an alcohol based sanitizer.
2 Keeping cuts and scrapes clean and bandaged until healed.
3 Avoiding contact with other people's wounds or bandages.
4. Avoiding sharing personal items like towels and razors.

If you are concerned about a cut or scrape, you should consult your health care practioner.
